Day 3 in the Aztec World

Image
I had only realised late night that I have only a few more hours left to be in the Aztec world. Looks like there is a 72-hour limit for time travelling. My trip has been splendid; I learnt more things in these three days than everything I had learnt in the previous 13 years of my life.  Image shows the part of Tenochtitlán I stayed in during my visit. Retrieved from https://www.pilotguides.com/articles/mexico-conquistadors-aztecs-revolution/ Living in the ancient Aztec world is very different from living in New Zealand in 2022. The people, the language, the environment, everything. But what I find the most different and fascinating about the Aztecs is their food being sold in markets. Sure, they have the basic fruits and vegetables, like tomatoes, maize (corn), potatoes, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, avocados, etc, but there is not much meat in sight. In our modern world, you will surely find a large variety of meat and fish in our markets, but it doesn't seem so in the Aztec world. A

Day 1 in the Aztec World

I don't know what had just happened...! Everything was everywhere and there were just splotches of colours all over the place. I feel all dizzy now. Also... where am I? I started the machine in my basement, and this is definitely NOT my basement! What's that, a lake? How on earth did I end up by a lake?? This doesn't even look like the modern world that I am familiar to! No cars, no tall buildings, no highways. Where am I? What is this place? Hang on... I think I know. It's some kind of ancient civilisation, though I am not sure which one. Huh? Did I travel in time...? That means that the machine I found in my basement is a time machine!! Ok, ok, this is very weird, but what harm is there to do a little bit of exploring? This place looks interesting... This is a quick view from the side of the lake. There are some plants and flowers surrounding the water edge. It is a very clean place (where ever this place is), with the water crystal clear and no rubbish at all anywher

Day 2 in the Aztec World

Image
Earlier this morning I woke up with the blinding sunlight as an alarm. Funny how instead of feeling drowsy and going back to sleep again, I felt full of energy and eager to get the day started. So I got out of bed, thinking that something is wrong with me, and went to get ready. That was when I realised that I didn't bring my toothbrush. I froze, not knowing what to do. As I was panicking, a local went past me, then doubled back. He inspected me from head to toe, then asked me something in a weird-sounding language (it sounded like the croaking of frogs, no offence). He must'd realised that I was a foreigner that doesn't speak his language, but little did he know that I came from the future. He grabbed me by the arm and showed me various parts of the city, some I have seen before during my exploration yesterday, some unfamiliar places that I didn't know could exist (these places were so breath-taking that I nearly forgot about morning breath. Only when I got too close a

An Unexpected Discovery

Earlier this morning as I was cleaning my basement, I came across a foreign-looking object. Our of curiosity, I decided to explore the gadget. Upon wiping off the thick layer of dust off its surface, I realised that I had uncover some sort of mechanism! I looks like some sort of weird-looking vehicle, with the metal bars all rusted and the windows smashed. It definitely needs a bit of cleaning and repairing to do, but I do wonder what it is for... This is the corner of my basement where I found the weird looking machine. It was hiding under some rotting wood and old, dusty carpets. Retrieved from  https://www.kingofmaids.com/blog/dirty-job-clean-basement/ Update - September 04, 2022 It is now later in the say, about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. I had thoroughly cleaned the machine and am now replacing all of the broken glass with new ones. I figure that the machine probably can be turned on already at this stage, but I think I will wait until I get to repair all of the broken and da
